The short version

Rarest Answer has no accounts. Your streaks, scores and settings are stored only in your own browser’s local storage, on your own device. Clearing your browser data erases them. Two optional features involve third parties — the global leaderboard and comments — detailed below; if they are not configured on this site, they stay fully disabled and nothing leaves your browser.

What we collect

Nothing by default. The game runs entirely in your browser after the page loads. Static files are served from a CDN that may log standard, anonymous technical information (IP address, user agent) for security and traffic management — that is the hosting provider’s standard practice, and it is not used to profile you.

Global leaderboard (optional)

When the leaderboard is enabled, posting a score sends the nickname you type, your score and the date to the site’s Cloudflare Worker, which stores it in a Cloudflare D1 database in project-scoped tables. We do not collect emails or account data. Leaderboard responses are cached in your browser’s local storage for up to 60 seconds to keep request counts low. You can post at most once per finished daily dig, and the Worker rate-limits repeated posts. To remove a posted score, contact us with the nickname and date.

Comments (optional)

Comments on the archive page are stored in the same Cloudflare D1 database, scoped to this project. Posting a comment sends the nickname you type, the comment text, the page and the date. Comments are public. No account is used; the Worker rate-limits posts (per hour, per visitor) and the comment list is cached in your browser for up to 30 seconds. To remove a comment, contact us with the nickname, page and date.

Cookies and local storage

The game uses local-storage keys (ra_state_v1 for streaks, scores, daily progress and unlimited stats; ra_cache_* for short-lived leaderboard/comment responses; ra_lb_done_* to remember a posted score for the day; ra_cm_name to remember your nickname). These are not cookies and are never sent to any server. You can remove them any time by clearing site data in your browser.

Advertising

If advertising is shown on this site in the future, third-party ad providers may set their own cookies subject to their own privacy policies. This policy will be updated before that happens.

Children

The game contains no chat, no user-generated content and no data collection, and is suitable for general audiences.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above will change with it.
